... is one of Yorkshire's famous Three Peaks, along with Ingleborough and Penyghent.
Confusingly, Great Whernside is a totally different mountain, also in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, but some 17 miles distant (as the crow flies) and 105 feet (32 metres) lower. Whernside is 2,415 feet (736 metres); Great Whernside is 2,310 feet (704 metres).
